The Founding Story of New Horizon Development
How a single Beverly Hills renovation in the 1980s became a four-decade luxury construction practice.

New Horizon Development was founded on a single Beverly Hills renovation in the 1980s. The client, a family friend of our founder, hired him to renovate a Traditional on the Flats after two other contractors had underdelivered. The project came in on time, on budget, and on quality — and the second, third, and fourth calls came from the client's neighbors.
Four decades later, that first project is still standing (and still owned by the original family). Our team has grown from one carpenter with a pickup truck to a construction organization with in-house project management, self-performed framing and finish carpentry, a 12,000 sq ft millwork shop, and long-standing relationships with the best architects, designers, and trade partners in Los Angeles.
What has not changed is the way we take on projects. We say yes to the ones we can do beautifully, and we say no — respectfully — to the ones we can't. It is a small filter that has kept the work good for forty years.
To the client on the Flats who took a chance on us in the 1980s: thank you. This entire company is a thank-you note to that first phone call.
