The Luxury Bathroom Remodel Guide for Beverly Hills and Bel Air
Book-matched slabs, radiant floors, and the smart-home details worth paying for — a walkthrough of how we spec a luxury bath.

A luxury bathroom in a Beverly Hills or Bel Air home should feel like a spa and behave like an appliance. Below, our team at New Horizon Development walks through the specifications and construction details we bring to every luxury bath project — from Trousdale to Holmby Hills to the Palisades.
Slabs, not tiles
Book-matched slab stone — Calacatta, Cristallo, Bianco Statuario, or Portoro — is the finish that defines a luxury bath. Templating is done on-site; fabrication is done in a shop where the seams are dry-fit before a single piece is set. The result is a bath that reads as one continuous piece of stone.
Radiant floors
Hydronic radiant heat under stone is a specification we now include on every luxury bath. The comfort delta is enormous; the operating cost is negligible; and the extra 3–4 weeks of build time is easy to schedule around.
The shower is a wet room
Curbless, linear-drain, glass-walled wet rooms with a rain head, a hand shower, body sprays, and steam are the norm now. We frame the shower floor with a two-way slope so the drain line disappears; we test every waterproofing detail with a 48-hour flood before we set stone.
Tubs
Freestanding tubs from Waterworks, Drummonds, or Antonio Lupi are almost universal in our specifications. Hand-hammered brass or copper tubs are becoming more common, especially in coastal Malibu projects.
Smart-home details worth paying for
- Programmable ceiling coves that shift color temperature through the day
- Chromotherapy in the shower with a scene selector at the door
- Heated towel bars zoned separately from radiant floors
- Motion-sensored night lighting under vanities and toe kicks
- Occupancy-based ventilation with humidity-responsive control
